Voici Madame Syme

Bonjour!  Welcome to French class and I am so excited to be your teacher this year (and hopefully next year too :).  French is a beautiful language to learn and to teach.  It will take a lot of time and dedication to learn, but every effort you give will be extremely rewarding.

Let me tell you a little about myself.  I grew up in American Fork, Utah.  I started learning French when I was in 8th grade.  My French teacher made learning the language fun and exciting.  I still remember him singing Le Marseillaise and frantically waving the French flag.  The French teacher at the high school was intense (and a little scary) at first, but she soon became my role model.  She encouraged me to learn French and never gave up on me.  She was the main reason I decided I wanted to teach French.

At BYU, I majored in French Teaching and minored in both Health Education and Coaching and Physical Education.  I love everything about France.  I love the language, the culture, the people, and especially the food!  I spent six glorious weeks in France where I lived off of Nutella Crêpes and baguettes ... but my time there just wasn't enough!  I hope to return there often.  Increasing my knowledge of the culture, people, and language is a never-ending goal of mine.

Six days after returning from France, on June 22, 2011, I married my best bud, Austin.  We live in Eagle Mountain and we love to watch Netflix.  Austin is working on his MBA at Utah Valley University and works for doTERRA.  We hope to visit  Hong Kong, China, where he served an LDS mission.

I enjoy running, biking, and pretty much playing any sport.  Soccer is my favorite and I am warming up to baseball, which is Austin's favorite.  I enjoy running in 5K - 10K races, especially fun ones, like the Dirty Dash or the Hit & Run.
